Textile design

With incredible diversity, textile has a wealth of ingenious processes that we explore and transpose to respond to new functions.

There are many artists, designers, stylists, costumers who stress the importance of using the language of textile and highlight various techniques for weaving, tapestry, knitting, embroidery and other textile assemblies of all kinds.

Sports, professional clothing, the environment, the home, the community, transport and technical textiles are all areas for possible application, sometimes they are even complementary or connected.

It is in this large panorama of textile creation that the students will experiment, develop and then perfect their artistic and creative approach, their signature.

Creator of surfaces, volumes, textures, motifs... they learn progressively to link the different facets of their creation and their thinking, to make them complementary, to move them forward together.

The right balance between artistic teaching, technical knowledge and sensitivity to the textile object, this course is open to all materials and know-how, contemporary, traditional or avant-garde.

For the educational team, it is as much about training a future professional as it is about participating in building a “personality”.

Organisation of the studies

The Bachelor studies:

During the 3 years of Bachelor studies, the student explores, experiments and then substantiates the different stages of the creative process.

The different modules “Textures - creation of a textile surface”, “Structure - grid, pattern” and “Volume - Dress the body, dress the object, dress the space” allow the student to develop their creative universe, their personal project, and to develop their textile signature.

To dream of the craziest projects, but also to be able to develop them, they learn progressively the mastery of movement and tools.  The different lessons, workshops and technical trainee internships are highly privileged spaces that are essential to a concrete and creative practice with the different tools available.

The Master’s degree:

On the basis of their baccalaureate experience, research and achievements, the students of a Master’s degree define the direction of their personal commitment to a creative field (Art, fashion, design, industry, etc.) and, by extension, how to conduct their professional project.

They are the actors of the design and development of this project; they use their technical knowledge as well as their mastery of specific tools necessary to the progress of their research.

The students organise their lesson plan according to their different projects. They have the possibility of following certain workshops and seminars organised as part of the course. The internships and other external partnerships allow them to understand and integrate different areas of creation more concretely, while also bringing a dimension of professional practice.

With constant support from the pedagogical team, the students will receive specific advice for any problems that may occur.

Going forward, the students will feel perfectly at ease in the panorama of contemporary textile creation.
